Spring Season Club Newsletter 2021

Spring is now officially here and with it comes the promise of  warm days and blue skies and the opportunity to come out and enjoy shooting some Sporting Clays’ , training and running your dog and maybe relaxing by the lake with Fishing Rod in hand.

Already the Clubs Shoot and Events calendar is filling up; we have a series of Summer Downton Day Simulated Driven shoots scheduled for the last Saturday of each month and we are very pleased to announce that we shall be hosting several Fund raising Downton Days for the Midway USA Charity Foundation

So here we go with all the latest news;

Sporting Clays & Downton Days.

The full 12 Station Sporting clays course is now open and includes target presentations for all levels of shooter. Stands are color coded – green, blue, and red – with a posted target menu. This allows shooters an opportunity to choose the types and difficulty level of targets they prefer to shoot. Our wireless target release handsets offer 3 unique target presentations on each stand.

We take pride is setting a well-balanced course with monthly target changes while maintaining 2 unchanged stations designed for both the novice shooter and upland hunter.

Upcoming 21/22 Hunting & Driven Shoot Season

As I predicted in last years Fall newsletter, the 2021 Season turned out to be the most important of the decade, with so many people working from home, they found they had the time to come out and  enjoy the sporting pusuits of Hunting, Shooting and working with their Dogs on almost a daily basis, it was great to see the Clubhouse so full of activity all through the season.

With this coming season likely to be just as, if not busier, we have again increased the number of bird stocks, and will be holding separate stocks for Dog Training, Upland Hunting and Driven Shoots, ensuirng we can keep everyone out in the field  to the very end of the season.

The coming “British Driven” shoot days are rapidly filling up, the Annual Opening 3 Day Trifecta was fully booked in 48 hours, so if you are thinking of joining us on one of this years events can I encourage you to look at booking your Peg as soon as possible!

Dates for the Driven Shoots can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/huntgreenacres/events/?ref=page_i

We will be scheduling a number of American Tower & Upland Hunt Combo shoots for later in the Fall/Winter and dates will be posted closer to the time.

As you will now know, we limit our Duck Hunting season to the months of November and December on specific dates, so if you want to make sure you have a “Blind” for this coming season can you call and speak with Tyler as soon as possible, as once the days are full we will not be adding further dates to the seaon.

Gun Dog Success

Well I’m sure it won’t come as much of a surprise to know that Dan & The GDS Team got off to a spectacularly successful start to this year’s Hunt Test season at the Horicon Marsh HRC quad upland test! All the dogs performed outstanding, running fantastic tests. For more detail go to: https://www.facebook.com/gundogsuccess/

Gun Dog Success is excited to announce two new additions to our training team.

Elijah Decker has taken the position of pointing dog specialist.

Elijah is a recent Summa Cum Laude graduate of Olivet Nazarene University. Elijah double majored in criminal justice and psychology with a minor in sociology. During his academic career, Elijah presented psychology research at the ACCA Student Symposium and American Psychological Association. Elijah is also a graduate of the North West Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and holds 5 FEMA certifications. He has always had a passion for the outdoor and working with animals. Elijah gained his passion for upland bird hunting and pointing dogs while working at Greyfield Legacies. He is excited to be the newest addition to the training team here at Gun Dog Success.

Hannah Nelson has also joined our team as a training apprentice.

She started as kennel staff, showing diligence, intelligence and most importantly, great interest in training dogs.  Hannah has an uncommon natural ability to “read” dogs, which is necessary to be a top notch dog trainer.  She always seems to have a positive, caring outlook and is not afraid of hard work.  We are proud to have her on our team. Also Hannah has a second role here at the Club and that is “Front OF House Assistant” , on Driven Shoots and Special Events she assists in the Kitchen, serves the “Elevenses” and most importantly now prepares and lays the main Dining table, using a professional “Butlers Stick” measure, for the post shoot Gourmet meals.
